The Everlasting Covenant
~ Contests ~

"BEHOLD, I say unto you that all old covenants have I caused to be done away in this thing; and this is a new and an everlasting covenant, even that which was from the beginning." ~ Doctrine and Covenants | Section 22:1

NOW when the church of Christ was restored to the earth on April 6, 1830, the Lord made this statement. The 'old covenants' would be in reference to such as was the Law of Moses and its various performances and animal sacrifice. The 'new and everlasting covenant' that was given at the time of the restoration of the church in 1830 was even the same 'New and Everlasting Covenant' that was from the beginning. That being the covenant God made to man in the preexistence, which was the fulness of the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. It was the same covenant blessing and performanced as held under the Patriarchal Order held by Adam and the Patriarchs of old, down to Noah, and thence to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph. And it was those blessings of the fathers that did remain in and through "Joseph, Jacob, Isaac and Abraham" (D&C 27:10).
