CHAPTER 22
A good name is better than riches—Train up a child in the way he should go.
|
|
|
1 A GOOD aname is rather to be chosen than
great briches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
2 The arich and poor meet together: the LORD is
the maker of them all.
3 A aprudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth
himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

16 He that aoppresseth the poor to increase his
briches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely
come to want.
17 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply
thine heart unto my knowledgea.
18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
|
17a apply thine heart unto my knowledge
The 'knowledge of the world' is not where one's efforts ought to be but unto learning as so
subjected to the guidance of the Lord. It is God's knowledge that bring salvation and eternal
life unto man. All the wisdom of philosophy and that of man will not but lead you astray it
that is what one attains unto without the priority of the guidance and the assurance to the
word of God. If it is at odds with the knowledge of God it will not stand and there is for sure
some flaw in it and following it will lead man astray. Stay to the Word of God and follow its
directions and keep thyself unto the Lord only. Let no man be you guide unless he does lead by
the inspiration and word of God.

19 That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the
awords of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that
send unto thee?

22 Rob not the apoor, because he is poor:
neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
23 For the LORD will aplead their

24 Make no afriendship with an
bangry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
